CCNA is short for Cisco Certified Network Associate. It is one of the foundation certifications for building real expertise in networking. Professionals who hold it can install and run LANs and connect them to WANs, ease access for small networks of a hundred nodes or more, and work with a long list of protocols, services and connection methods such as: IP, IGRP, IPX, Serial, Apple Talk, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, Access Lists.
A CCNA holder can install and run networks with a high level of skill, Simple – routed LAN , switched LAN among them, and connect them to WANs.
There are also solutions the holder of this certification is able to deliver, ones that combine the training with genuine practical experience. For example:
- First: installing and running networks
- Second: optimising the WAN as far as it will go, through the solutions that ease access to the internet. These cut the volume of data carried over the network and bring the cost of the WAN down, using Access Lists for data made available on demand, and raising the link only when it is needed, Dial-on-Demand Routing DDR
- Third: allowing the network to be controlled or reached remotely, by joining two LANs together and running both from a distance, as well as sustaining the high performance levels that modern applications call for, such as trading over the internet, multimedia and so on .....
